The Bronte Creek Project (BCP) is a four credit program designed to provide
students with the opportunity to create a strong community of individuals
dedicated to developing the knowledge, skills and sense of adventure that
will enable them to be effective environmental leaders.
Community
Students at the BCP spend a lot of time together and necessity requires
that they learn how to get along. They work hard at forging a close-knit
community that supports individuality, and which recognizes character
more than personality.
Environment
BCP students not only learn basic ecology and study environmental issues,
they live a low-impact lifestyle while on site, and share what they learn
by teaching the Earthkeepers program to younger children.
Leadership
BCP students study leadership theory and develop basic teaching skills.
The application of this knowledge and skill is an intense leadership practicum
with grade 4-6 students. Our leaders experience between ten to fifteen
days of working with children, and making a difference in their lives.
Adventure
Adventure and challenge come in many forms. Our students test themselves
rock climbing, winter camping, canoeing, leading a song at a campfire,
and cooking a meal for eighty people. Learning how to manage risk leads
to accelerated personal growth.
